No special rate for visitors on Port Mann

BC drivers won’t be the only ones covering the 3.3-billion dollar price tag of the new Port Mann Bridge over the next four decades.

Transportation Minister Mary Polak says out-of-province and out-of-country travellers will also be forced to pay tolls every time they cross it, “We already have agreements in place with United States jurisdictions and when it comes to Inter-Provincial, we have regulations that will be coming to ensure that we can enforce those through our commercial vehicle security and enforcement. You’ll still get a bill.”

The first week is free for everyone.

Drivers who pre-register before March 1st will pay discounted rates of a dollar-50 each way until December of 2013. That’s when the basic toll doubles to three dollars.
