Missing Women Commissioner Wally Oppal reaches some common-sense conclusions in his massive report into the failed police investigation into serial killer Robert Pickton.
In the report called “Forsaken”, he makes 63 recommendations.
Oppal says there systemic bias against the poor, drug-addicted sex workers Pickton targeted.
He says proper resources were not allocated to arresting Pickton.
Oppal says rcmp and vancouver police didn’t communicate properly, but stresses this is a larger issue than a police failure.
That said, he’s also recommending a Greater Vancouver Regional Police force.
The hearings cost more than nine million dollars and ran for months in Vancouver.
