Port Mann Bridge free for first week

Transportation Minister Mary Polak has announced travelling across the new Port Mann bridge will be free for the first week it’s open in December, and it’s officially the widest bridge in the world.

Hundreds of workers who helped build the new 10-lane crossing are gathered near the Surrey side for a barbecue and celebration.

The bridge is not slated to open until December and it’s obvious more work must still be completed but the massive structure is impressive.

Transportation Minister Mary Polak arrived in a red convertible wearing sunglasses and a scarf, ala Grace Kelly in the 50’s or 60’s, when the original Port Mann Bridge opened.
