Premier supports Black’s refinery proposal

Premier Christy Clark is giving a strong voice of support to David Black’s proposed oil refinery on the north coast.

Clark told the Legislature today the project must go through an independent environmental review, but she calls it a “credible” proposal that could generate six thousand full time, good paying jobs.

“Our government takes the view that we should work together to address the legitimate environmental and safety concerns and find a way to get to yes on projects that will grow our economy. This project, and the lng opportunity, both require leadership, and this is where my government stands.”

Clark says the government has been working with the newspaper publisher to find a suitable site for the proposed refinery.
