Record snow pack levels in several B.C. river basins could lead to floods in the surrounding areas.
“With the very high snow packs in some regions of the province, we are seeing increased flood risk. This is particularly the case in the upper Fraser, Nechako and Skeena basins, where we have near historic snowpack levels,” says Dave Campbell with the River Forecast Centre.
He says these conditions are a result of two La Nina years in a row.
If flooding does occur, the greatest risk period is during May and June.
