Alberta Premier Alison Redford says there’s no need for her to meet with Premier Christy Clark while she’s in Vancouver, because they’ve both made their positions on the Northern Gateway Pipeline clear.
“We believe that it’s very important for economic benefits to be spread across the country and we don’t believe fundamentally changing confederation to allow that to happen is appropriate.”
Redford is responding to Clark’s demands for a greater share of revenues from the 5.5-billion dollar pipeline project.
She was speaking moments after addressing the Canadian Bar Association’s annual convention in Vancouver.
“We need to ensure that our actions are fiscally responsible and fair and this means doing what’s right for the long term and not the next election cycle.”
Clark is not attending the CBA convention because she’s on vacation.
