BURNABY, B.C. – Sporting goods wholesaler Redl Sports Distributors Ltd. has agreed to be bought by U.S.-based Maurice Sporting Goods, Inc., with the deal expected to close at the end of November.
Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Redl Sports Distributors is a family-owned outdoor sporting goods company headquartered in Burnaby, B.C., serving Western Canada. Maurice, headquartered in Illinois, is also an outdoor sports wholesaler.
“Over the years, we have developed a great deal of respect for Redl Sports Distributors and its management team and we look forward to supporting their continued growth from their base near Vancouver, British Columbia,” Jory Katlin, CEO of Maurice Sporting Goods said in a statement.
Brent McCallum, general manager of Redl Sports Distributors, said selling the company was a big decision.
“I look forward to continuing to lead Redl well into the future while enjoying the many benefits that our new partnership will provide.”
McCallum will continue to operate Redl as a sister company to Maurice.
Maurice Sporting Goods is a family owned wholesaler of sporting goods products for fishing, hunting, camping and other outdoor activities. It provides goods for mass retailers and independent dealers in the U.S., Canada and worldwide.
It has a distribution centre in Mississauga, Ont.
