Repair work begins on Port Mann

It’s still early but officials with the Port Mann Bridge project say they don’t expect the timetable for completion of the bridge to be affected by last Friday’s crane accident.
Max Logan with the Port Mann-Highway One Improvement Project says they will begin, likely Thursday, to level the gantry.

“At that point the repairs will take place so an assessment that was done over the weekend confirmed at the moment it appears the damage is limited to the base or the footing of the gantry there doesn’t appear to be any damage to the gantry itself or the bridge deck so once the gantry is level and horizontal then the repairs will begin.”

Logan says while they don’t have a cause of the accident yet, the overall timetable should not be affected.
He says the contract also ensures the contractor, not the province, will bear the costs of crane mishap.
