School employer want teachers ordered back to extra-curricular work

The BC Public School Employers Association is once again looking to the Labour Relations Board in their dispute with the teachers’ union.

BCPSEA CEO Hugh Finlayson says the BCTF is encouraging illegal strike action by telling teachers to withdraw from volunteer and extra-curricular activities.

“The strike started in September and went to March and needed to end in March. What we saw after and we see today after that period the strike really continues.

“We list in our application about 20 items that teachers are simply not doing under the direction of the BCTF.”

Finlayson says he wants all the referred-to “illegal strike action” to end.

He says he expects the board to rule on the matter within days.

BCPSEA recently had the LRB file in their favour on report cards not being done.
