A high-risk sex offender who was the subject of a public appeal by Vancouver Police on Friday, has been located and arrested.
32 year old James Patrick Benson was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant after he walked away from his half-way house on Thursday night.
Benson’s criminal history goes back to the early 1990s.
His convictions include various property and weapons offences, sexual assault, extortion, and attempted murder.
In a release, police say he was spotted while walking in the 200 block of East Hastings Street early Sunday morning, and was arrested without incident.
In March of 2011, Benson failed to return to his half-way house.
That time, he was arrested on the Sunshine Coast.
