The mayor of Surrey wants to see at least a metre and half dredged from the Fraser river in order to create over a thousand jobs. Dianne Watts says 1300 jobs could be created along with hundreds of millions of dollars in economic activiity for the Fraser Surrey docks.
Watts says due to economic conditions the city has lost 40%, or about 250 jobs, from the port.
