Teachers’ union past-president says Lambert has her support

A past president of the B.C. Teachers’ Federation says she stands firmly behind current boss Susan Lambert, as teachers prepare to walk off the job Monday morning.

“I have to admit there are days when I say I’m glad it’s her and not me!”

Irene Lanzinger, who served as BCTF president for three years, is now in a senior position with the BC Federation of Labour.

“I can say on behalf of the BC Federation of Labour that 450,000 workers in this province stand solidly behind the teachers and we’ll be showing that next week.”

A rally is planned for Tuesday in Victoria at the legislature.

As for a message to Lambert?

“It’s a very, very difficult position, and she’s doing a wonderful job.”
