The Union Gospel Mission expects to feed thousands of Vancouver’s least fortunate a Thanksgiving dinner today.
For many in the Downtown Eastside, it often feels like they’re another anonymous brick in the wall.
But Marie, who lives in the neighbourhood, says the Mission gives her a sense of community.
“I’ve been coming down to the Union Gospel for quite a few years and it means a lot to me, to be able to come somewhere where they make you feel comfortable.”
The U-G-M expects to dish out 170 turkeys to over 3000 members of the community.
