The LRB turns down a BCTF request to remove government appointed mediator.

The Labour Relations Board has rejected a BC Teachers Federation request for the LRB to rule on whether or not to fire a government appointed mediator.

However teachers union vice president Glen Hansman says the fight isn’t over yet as the union still feels Doctor Charles Jago is biased.

He said “Well the only thing that the Labour Relations Board has ruled on is whether or not it has jurisdiction and it decided it does not have jurisdiction so we will be looking at filing an application to court so the issue about Dr. Jago’s appointment as a mediator or not hasn’t been determined by anyone yet,”

Hansman says in the meantime the union is continuing to meet with Jago, even as they try and remove him from his job as mediator.

The teachers say Jago is biased because he was consulted on a portion of Bill 22 before it was tabled and made suggested changes
