UPDATED: Coroner now says case of ‘human’ foot is probably a false alarm.

The Coroner’s service now believes bones found in a boot on a vancouver beach this afternoon are likely *not* human.

Coroner Barb McLintock says the bones likely are from a marine mammal.

She says “that is good news we are always worried about these things when they may lead us to a missing person or a deceased person we didn’t know about but at the moment it appears these are not human remains they probably belong to a marime mammal who died in that area.”

The remains were found in the sand at the dog park beside the Maritime Museum earlier this afternoon leading to speculation another human foot had washed up.

 The area is cordoned off.

In the past feet inside various shoes have washed up along the West coast from Washington State to BC.
