Don’t buy your medication on the Internet.
That’s the message from Mounties and border officers, as they detail an ongoing international investigation into fake drugs being sold online.
RCMP Sergeant Duncan Pound says officers recently raided addresses linked to the counterfeit drug market and intercepted nearly four thousand packages with fake pills from 18 countries — primarily Asian.
“Among the counterfeit and illicit medicines were anti-depressants, sedatives, prescription weight-loss products, heart medication, hormone replacement therapies and erectile disfunction drugs.”
The investigation also targets email spam and organized crime websites posing as legitimate online pharmacies.
