Woman sentenced to life for murder charge

SURREY, B.C. – A woman charged with the October 2008 stabbing death of a man in a Surrey home has been sentenced to life in prison.

Tammy Myran was charged with second-degree murder in the death of Abdu Basir Ghulam Mohammad.

RCMP Sgt. Jennifer Pound says Myran will not be eligible for parole for 10 years and has a lifetime ban on firearms.

She says Myran was arrested at the home where the stabbing occurred.

Ghulam Mohammad died there despite the attempts of an ambulance crew that tried to save him.
