3 lanes open on new Port Mann Bridge

The new Port Mann Bridge is carrying its first commuters.

And they’re getting a free ride – no tolls until one week after the bridge opens to both directions of traffic in December.

But as of this morning, eastbound Hwy 1 drivers are using the new span.

“Overnight, crews moved the barriers, adjusted the line painting, and as of about 5:30 this morning, we had 3 lanes going eastbound across the new Port Mann,” says spokesperson Max Logan.

He calls it a significant milestone, but notes construction isn’t finished yet.

“There is still active work happening on the corridor.  Please slow down and keep an eye out for crews and drive safely.”
