BC’s Attorney General on another delay at the Missing Women Inquiry.

Attorney-General Shirley Bond says she’s okay with a delay in the Missing Women Inquiry while Commissioner Wally Oppal finds a new lawyer to represent aboriginal interests.

Bond said “I’m assured that during the course of the break that is being taken that there will be work continuing to be done by the commission team so it’s not that everything will stop I think the public hearing part will be on hold briefly but again I think what is important is Commissioner Oppal has made it very clear that he understands the necessity to have legal counsel in place and iI think that’s a positive step.”

But Bond says there will be no extension in the June deadline for oppal’s report, noting the inquiry has already cost taxpayers $ 4 million and rising.
