Peachland fire situation improves

Good news for fire evacuees in Peachland. Officials say the evacuation order will be rescinded later this afternoon for the approximately 260 people still out of their homes. A wildfire is burning fast west of Peachland. Peachland Mayor Keith Fielding says it's actually outside his district, so no evacuation alerts are in place for his residents at this time. Lower Mainland man drowns west of Peachland

It's a sad reminder of the importance of life-jackets. A 43-year old man from Metro Vancouver is dead after a boat capsized yesterday afternoon on Headwaters Lake, west of Peachland. A small float plane has crash landed near Highway 97 in the Okanagan.
