More job action at ICBC

The union at ICBC has announced more job action in its on-going contract dispute. ICBC fires six Richmond estimators after RCMP investigation

ICBC has fired six estimators at the Richmond claims centre for breaking company policy. The workers were canned after ICBC discovered these estimators had approved repair estimates from autobody shops over the phone, rather than by doing an-in person inspection. After one day of job action coordinated with the BC Government and Service Employees' Union earlier this month, COPE Local 378 says more strike action is coming. Province wants ICBC to reduce costs

The provincial government has completed its review of ICBC, making 24 recommendations to help reduce costs. Among them, cutting the number of managers and reducing managerial compensation to levels seen in 2008.
